Journey to lands through the stars
Seeking love as ours
DESCRIPTION
Woven in Crete in the mid-20th century, this textile is a striking example of the island’s geometric weaving tradition. Known as the mosaic weave for its detailed, tile-like patterning, it features a vivid interplay of color and form—each motif echoing centuries-old symbolism found in embroidery, stonework, and even Cretan floor mosaics. Hand-loomed in wool and cotton, its texture is robust yet supple, making it ideal as a table runner, wall hanging, or layered textile in the home. It’s a piece that bridges function and heritage—meant to be used, admired, and passed down.
Each entirely unique, Anthologist’s textiles are a coveted collection of those sought-after, magazine page-worthy pieces that are sure sell-outs. All of our stock is sourced from personal collections of the highest quality craftsmanship, with each piece hand-chosen by our founder based on rarity, provenance, and artisanal integrity. When sourced, most textiles remain NFS (not for sale) in our founder’s personal collection, with each piece slowly released into the inventory on an ongoing basis.
As each piece was painstakingly handmade on a loom, there can be natural defects, as well as minor signs of age, appropriate to its provenance and past use, which we find quite beautiful, adding to its soul.
