Part showroom, part event space, part exhibition gallery, Anthologist represents a new wave of retail: A boutique that discourages people from shopping, pointing them toward curated collecting instead. Hoteliers, interior designers, architects, and travelers can make an appointment to consult with Anthologist founder and product designer Andria Mitsakos, who will guide them through her own collections of jewelry, handbags and belts, brass objets d’art, and ceramics, all made by local artisans in Greece. Specializing in vintage and antique textiles, alongside other found objects, Anthologist also offers up-cycled traditional Greek tagari bags, and coveted Art Deco era kimonos. As part of her mission to sustain Greek culture by supporting Greek arts and handicrafts, Mitsakos also sources and commissions profound, soulful objects for hotels, designers, and collectors.
A shoppable museum of objects that tell stories, Anthologist isn’t just changing the way collectors shop, but is revitalizing this quintessentially local neighborhood as well. Anthologist events and exhibits lure Athenians and visitors alike to this overlooked corner of the city to celebrate heritage, authenticity, and the human drive to seek beauty and meaning.
