Bold and unapologetically vibrant, The Cretan Fire Weave is a hand-loomed masterpiece from Crete, showcasing a striking geometric design in vivid orange and cream. This textile is crafted from a 50/50 blend of goat’s wool and sheep’s wool, lending it both the softness of sheep’s fleece and the durability of goat’s hair. The careful balance of these fibers ensures a robust yet tactile finish, ideal for use as a throw, a bed cover, or a statement wall tapestry.

Handwoven by skilled artisans in the 1970s, the intricate geometric patterns pay homage to ancient Greek motifs while reflecting the fiery sunsets and terracotta hues of the Cretan landscape. The edges are finished with delicate hand-tied tassels, adding a touch of traditional craftsmanship that celebrates the island's storied textile heritage.

Each entirely unique, Anthologist’s textiles are a coveted collection of those sought-after, magazine page-worthy pieces that are sure sell-outs. All of our stock is sourced from personal collections of the highest quality craftsmanship, with each piece hand-chosen by our founder based on rarity, provenance, and artisanal integrity. When sourced, most textiles remain NFS (not for sale) in our founder’s personal collection, with each piece slowly released into the inventory on an ongoing basis.

As each piece was painstakingly handmade on a loom, there can be natural defects, as well as minor signs of age, appropriate to its provenance and past use, which we find quite beautiful, adding to its soul.
