A woven story
A thought, a philosophy
Each is nostalgia
DESCRIPTION
Ornitha (Όρνιθα): Greek for bird—referring to the central woven figure, a symbol of freedom, protection, and messenger energy in Greek folk textiles.
A handwoven wool pillow featuring a stylized bird framed by crimson and green floral motifs on a dark winter ground. Inspired by the animal iconography of Greek village weaving, Ornitha adds character, color, and folkloric charm to any interior.
Ornitha (Όρνιθα) carries layered meaning in Greek tradition. Birds are seen as messengers connecting earth and sky, and were often woven into household textiles as protective symbols. Their presence suggested good fortune, safe travels, and harmony within the home.
Against the deep ground, the central bird becomes a focal point of vitality, surrounded by red and green floral motifs that echo themes of life, ritual, and seasonal renewal. This blend of fauna and flora is characteristic of heirloom textiles from mountain regions, where nature served as both muse and talisman.
Ornitha brings that story into the present—a woven emblem of protection, movement, and the enduring link between craft and folklore.
