DESCRIPTION
Choreístria (Χορεύστρια): Greek for female dancer—inspired by the stylized women holding hands across the textile in a continuous, ceremonial chain.
Choreístria is woven in vivid reds, oranges, and violets, its central band animated by a procession of female figures linked hand in hand. Their triangular skirts and uplifted arms create a rhythmic, almost musical pattern against the saturated wool field. Intimate in scale but powerful in presence, the piece reads like a fragment of a larger festive cloth—perfect draped or displayed vertically on a wall.
Choreístria symbolizes unity, feminine strength, and the communal dances that mark winter holidays across Greece and the wider region. The linked figures evoke continuity, shared rituals, and the invisible thread that binds women through generations—a quiet celebration of togetherness.
