DESCRIPTION
Areni (Αρενί): A name inspired by “Արենի / Areni,” the Armenian word linked to vineyards—and one of the country’s oldest winemaking regions—and the deep red hues of the area — symbolizing richness, heritage, and the warmth of the earth.
A handwoven Armenian wool throw featuring bold winter florals in pomegranate red, saffron, and plum, framed by intricate traditional borders. With its weight, warmth, and richly patterned surface, Areni brings seasonal depth and heirloom resonance to any interior.
Areni nods to Armenia’s ancient relationship with color, cultivation, and craft. In Armenian textile tradition, large stylized florals were woven as symbols of life, protection, and seasonal abundance — motifs that connected daily domestic rituals to the land.
The throw’s vivid botanical forms represent fertility, continuity, and the turning of seasons, while the deep border patterning symbolizes grounding, lineage, and the protective framework of home. Its dark fringe echoes the winter earth, anchoring the textile both visually and metaphorically.
By bringing Armenian weaving into The Heirloom Hearth, the collection honors our founder’s Armenian roots from her maternal grandmother, interconnecting textile histories of the Eastern Mediterranean — regions bound by migration, trade, symbol, and craft.
