DESCRIPTION:
Created in Athens by Kostis Kostaras, this kaleidoscope marks the first release from Anthologist Lab, an initiative designed to support artisans as they step into new mediums.
Kostaras began as a painter, but through stained glass found a way to move beyond surface, learning to sculpt directly with light.
Crafted from hand-cut fragments of raw glass, the kaleidoscope produces imagery that feels almost digital, psychedelic, intricate and immersive, through entirely analog means. Inside, mirrored elements transform fragments of colour and light into constantly changing geometric compositions.
With every turn, a pattern emerges that has never existed before and will never exist again. What appears as chaos resolves, briefly, into harmony. Then it shifts.
Held in the palm of the hand, it is an analog instrument of wonder, and a reminder that infinite possibilities can arise from nothing more than light, material and perspective.
