DESCRIPTION
Angistron (Άγκιστρον): Greek for “hook / clasp / fastening motif” — inspired by the elongated, angular shapes woven across the textile.
A dramatic handwoven Greek wool throw featuring angular, hooked motifs in crimson, plum, ochre, and stone grey on a deep charcoal ground. The textile is finished with an exquisite hand-crocheted trim in warm saffron and red, adding texture, craftsmanship, and a ceremonial touch. Angistron is a bold winter heirloom rooted in ancestral Greek weaving.
Angistron (Άγκιστρον) refers to traditional hooked motifs believed to “catch” blessings and secure protection within the home. The saffron crochet edging adds a further layer of meaning — saffron has long symbolized prosperity, light, and the nourishment of the winter hearth.
