Inspired by the many legends of the ancient world where dolphins helped humans, our Arion Dolphin Objet was inspired by the antique, gilded dolphins seen throughout art and decorative accessories in the iconic Hotel Grand Bretagne in Athens, where our founder lived as she settled into Athens and called it home. A beautiful conversation piece, it’s as appropriate full of nuts or other nibbles at aperitivo, as it is placed on your bedside table to hold jewelry, or a bar of soap on your bathroom counter. A perfect gift, its multi-use is endless.

Named after the poet Arion of Lesbos island, legend says that he had amassed a fortune serving as a court performer and was returning home. The crew of the ship robbed him of his earnings, and as they were about to toss him overboard, he pleaded to sing one last song. Singing his own dirge, he then threw himself overboard. Instead of drowning, Arion was saved by dolphins that had been moved by his performance.

All of our brass objects are hand-cast using ancient methods including sand molds. The last step of the production process is a hand-polishing to showcase each piece’s inherent brilliance. Some imperfections are natural.
