Cookovaya Stuffed Animal

Take flight and keep watch
Protect us with your big eyes
Symbol of Athens

Designed by Anthologist’s founder, the Anthologist stuffed owl is handcrafted by a team of female artisans in Mexico using boiled wood thread, hand-woven and hand-dyed with vegetable and plant extracts. A favorite Ancient Greek proverb says, “γλαῦκ’ εἰς Ἀθήνας” meaning “owls to Athens” (“Eulen nach Athen tragen” in German). As there are plenty of owls in Athens, the saying translates as doing something unnecessary or superfluous, as so often people do in life. Our stories are simple: keep it relevant, and authentic. The owl—cookovaya in Greek—is the emblem of the city of Athens.
